Just a quick update. My "training" since deciding a couple of weeks ago to ride 12 hours solo on a singlespeed in the Naseby 12 Hour MTB Challenge has involved a couple of singlespeed rides, and one run. Eeep!
We're heading out to Naseby tomorrow for a day trip to check out the course. Let's hope the 32-20 I'm running will get me around Naseby in one piece. My main concern is my lower back, which has a tendency to play up when I'm pushing too big a gear - the worst incident being at the second round of the NI XC Cup in 2008 where I was suffering for two of the three laps. I'm hoping to take this race at an easier pace so I won't be pushing myself as hard. I guess we'll take it as it comes.
In other news, we moved into our new house two weeks ago, and had a housewarming last weekend. The house is lovely and it was great to catch up with Dunedin people last weekend who we hadn't seen in a couple of years. Work has also been quite busy - I have 800-odd first year Psychology lab reports to mark-check, so I'm taking the weekend off but worked today (Good Friday) and am going back into work on (easter) Monday to get some more work done. Ah well. No rest for the wicked :) Hopefully this weekend will be full of good weather and bikes, bikes, bikes!
Happy Easter everyone!
